Looking to repair bad credit so I can start up my own business.?

I have a terrible credit score. I owe money to 3 companies, but 2 of them are not even in existence anymore. The last is an old credit card bill. Now, I realize i need to pay these things off to help with my credit. After I do that though, how do I get my credit up? Obviously I’m not going to be able to get a credit card, so how else can I quickly start to repair my credit?

If you want to repair your credit and this is your situation, consider yourself lucky that this is as bad as it is. Your situation is an easy one to fix. First, for those two companies who are not in existence anymore, write them a letter and dispute whatever listing they have on your credit report. If they’re not in business anymore, they can’t report that information. If there is a collection agency listed as collecting the debt, find out who they’re and get them to validate the debt. In this case the debt should have been sold to someone, and its likely that they won’t be able to produce any records and they will have to delete the negative listing. If they don’t just get rid of the listing, make sure when you pay all three of these things that you negotiate how the listing on your credit report will look. You don’t want anything else but paid, paid in full, or paid as agreed. Get everything they agree to in writing, this way if future disputes come up you will have a letter to back up the terms of the agreement you made with them. And as far as getting a credit card, you can get one right now, you will just have to pay outrageous fees. Hope this helps. If any of this is over your head, visit the sites below for more answers.

I’ve found some good information here too…

How can i open my own credit repair company?

I am a mortgage loan officer and always send customers who have credit issues to a credit company to clean off their credit. I know people can do this on their own, but many do not have the knowledge and time to do it. I have also cleaned customers credit myself including mine and my wife`s and friends and family members but i have been doing it for free. How do i go about it in opening my own credit repair company? Where do i start?

I wish I could provide an answer to this, a REAL answer. I was in mortgage too for a number of years and got to watch SEVERAL opportunities like the ones you are describing pass me by. Although I would probably open up shop for myself if I had this answer ;-) … I have another product that you could easily incorporate into your current business AND provide a value that no-one else in Real Estate offers. Contact me at 949-838-6909 or xanderabc@aol.com if you are interested in taking a look.

Is there any way for a credit repair company to set up an account to pull credit for its clients?

I am trying to start a credit repair company but I have not found a company to go through to pull credit. All the companies seem to only work with mortgage companies. HELP!

i agree with the poster above, why not have the clients pull their own accounts (they can do this for free three times a year).
Be ware however, that credit repair is a hard market to serve….most often they want YOU and your company to be magicians….
Is there another kind of business that you can run on the side…I really think that this business will be more trouble than it is worth.
With that said, I was of the impression that anyone can pull anyone’s credit with the subject’s permission. Work with a lawyer and have them create a consent form for you. I just checked my credit report and it was pulled LITERALLY 12 times in the past 7 months. 9 of these pulls were ‘soft pulls’ meaning that I did not initiate any of them.
Saying that to say that there is a way. I just dont know what it is

Do credit repair services work? Which is the best agency to go through?

I have paid for alllllll of my old collection accounts and I’m just waiting for them to drop off of my credit reports. I’ve been looking into credit repair service on line and wondering if they can actually help. All of the items on my reports are actually MINE and I did actually owe them, but they are all FINALLY paid off. Is there any hope to get them removed quickly?

Do it yourself & Do some research. Most of this stuff you can do on your own and save a lot more money.

What is the best way to repair your bad credit ?

My balance is not that high but it is in collection probably the most is 1500-2000 from olddd credit cards .. but how do i get the information to pay off these balances now … i need help to repair my credit but those councelors are not much help either .. how can i do it myself ?

Well, first you want to gather all your credit reports from all 3 agencies. Truecredit is a good site to pull from all 3 agencies. You can do a free trial, and then it’s $14.95 after that. I’ve gotten a tri-merged report, which is a report from all 3 bureaus, and I was able to get the information of who’s holding the debt, but their telephone number and address. This way you can get recent reports and continue to monitor your credit at an affordable price.

Once you’re able to get the information you need about the debts, you should determine how old the debts are before you go and settle. If it’s closer to 7½ years, you might as well wait and let the Fair Credit Reporting Act do its thing and they’ll stop reporting, however if they’re 5 years or less, then you may need to take action. And what I mean by that is to negotiatng a payment in exchange for getting them removed from your report alltogether. What you might want to know before you try to contact the collectors, is that credit card debt or Open accounts have a statute of limitations. What this means is that the collector has a set period of time according to the laws of the state that it was open to pursue the debt in court. So for example, if you live in California, the statute of limitations would be 4 years. After that a collector would not have any legal right to the debt even though they would still try to take you to court for this. The first link I posted lists all the states and the statute of limitations.

Chances are, if these debts are old like you say they are, the statute may have expired and you may be able to settle for much less in exchange for getting them removed from your report. The next 4 links I’m posting gives you more detailed instructions on how to get this done.

There’s a lot of information on here, but I’m confident that the links I posted will be more than helpful to you.

Thanks for reading and good luck

What is the best way to repair my awful credit?

While dealing with a long history of low paying jobs and irresponsible behavior I managed to reuine my credit. I now have a pretty good job with much higher wages, and need advice on how to repair my credit before my husband decide to buy a house in the next 3 years. Please help!!!!!!

How do you know your credit is bad? Most people assume but don’t really have a clue!

Start with pulling your credit yourself at www.annualcreditreport.com . Everyone can do this…free, once a year. What you will see is your "flat file"… that is, everything good and bad that is in your credit file. You won’t get your FICO but that isnt important at first.

You can select to view one, two or all three bureaus. I always suggest to view all 3. Print out your "flat files". Take some time to review everything! I bet you’ll find some surprises! You might find wrong information including your personal info, old accounts, wrong balances/owed. Most surprising to people are the accounts that are NOT there, good and bad!

Each credit bureau allows you to dispute wrong info online…take advantage of that!!

Once you have your reports in your hand you can get to work to clear it all up! If there are accounts that went to collections agencies or are late PAY THEM OFF. Don’t settle for less than you owe, a tactic (option) that some collection agencies use to collect the debt. That can be worse than the late pay.

Sometimes you can play "Lets make a deal" with companies: tell them you are prepared to pay off your debt in exchange for them removing their "mark"on your credit file. Some will tell you they can’t do that (oh yes they can!) others will say they will report a "zero" balance to the bureau (but the "mark" is still there).

Most of all: start paying your debts on time now. Cleaning up your credit takes a little time. By law those late pays and collections can stay on your bureau’s for 5-7 yrs. With some hard work and a little time and lots of commitment…you can have a great credit report in less time than that. And most lenders just look at the last 2 yrs.

What is the best credit cardfor a young person looking to repair bad credit?

I’m young (19) and have had some credit problems: medical bills, and also bills that didn’t reach me when I moved, so they were late. I’m on stable financial ground now and have heard that a credit card is a good way to repair my history- if I use it sensibly and pay it off every month. What is the best card for someone like me to get, and why?

You can try HSBC – they offer some attracive subprime credit cards, including one that offers rewards.

A site I’ve used for info in the past …
