Looking to repair bad credit so I can start up my own business.?
I have a terrible credit score. I owe money to 3 companies, but 2 of them are not even in existence anymore. The last is an old credit card bill. Now, I realize i need to pay these things off to help with my credit. After I do that though, how do I get my credit up? Obviously I’m not going to be able to get a credit card, so how else can I quickly start to repair my credit?
If you want to repair your credit and this is your situation, consider yourself lucky that this is as bad as it is. Your situation is an easy one to fix. First, for those two companies who are not in existence anymore, write them a letter and dispute whatever listing they have on your credit report. If they’re not in business anymore, they can’t report that information. If there is a collection agency listed as collecting the debt, find out who they’re and get them to validate the debt. In this case the debt should have been sold to someone, and its likely that they won’t be able to produce any records and they will have to delete the negative listing. If they don’t just get rid of the listing, make sure when you pay all three of these things that you negotiate how the listing on your credit report will look. You don’t want anything else but paid, paid in full, or paid as agreed. Get everything they agree to in writing, this way if future disputes come up you will have a letter to back up the terms of the agreement you made with them. And as far as getting a credit card, you can get one right now, you will just have to pay outrageous fees. Hope this helps. If any of this is over your head, visit the sites below for more answers.
I’ve found some good information here too…

Are you happy with the stimulus?
Here are some interesting details on the "stimulus" package. If you would not mind forwarding this along to your friends, family, and contacts, it would be greatly
appreciated. The more info Americans have on this bill, the only thing stimulated will be anger and outrage, because none of this stimulates the economy or creates Jobs.
* The interest payments alone on the stimulus would cost $350 billion over
the next ten years, which means the next generation will have to pay the bills.
* The bill contains nothing in it that would stimulate the economy, but its only
a down-payment on big government spending. In reality, it’s a welfare proposal.
Wasteful Spending Provisions
* $2 billion earmark to re-start FutureGen, a near-zero emissions coal power
plant in Illinois that the Dept. of Energy defunded last year because the project was inefficient
* $650 million for the digital television (DTV) converter box coupon program
* $88 million for the Coast Guard to design a new polar icebreaker (arctic ship)
* $448 million for constructing the Dept. of Homeland Security headquarters
* $248 million for furniture at the new Dept. of Homeland Security headquarters
* $600 million to buy hybrid vehicles for federal employees
* $400 million for the CDC to screen and prevent STD’s
* $1.4 billion for a rural waste disposal programs
* $125 million for the Washington , D.C. sewer system
* $150 million for Smithsonian museum facilities
* $1 billion for the 2010 Census, which has a projected cost overrun of $3 billion
* $75 million for "smoking cessation activities"
* $200 million for public computer centers at community colleges
* $75 million for salaries of employees at the FBI
* $25 million for tribal alcohol and substance abuse reduction
* $500 million for flood reduction projects on the Mississippi River
* $10 million to inspect canals in urban areas
* $6 billion to turn federal buildings into "green" buildings
* $500 million for state and local fire stations
* $650 million for wildland fire management on Forest Service lands
* $1.2 billion for "youth activities," including youth summer job programs
* $88 million for renovating the headquarters of the Public Health Service
* $412 million for CDC buildings and property
* $500 million for building and repairing NIH facilities in Bethesda, MD
* $160 million for "paid volunteers" at the Corporation for
National and Community Service
* $5.5 million for "energy efficiency initiatives" at the VA
" National Cemetery Administration"
* $60 million for Arlington National Cemetery
* $850 million for Amtrak
* $100 million for reducing the hazard of lead-based paint
* $75M to construct a new "security training" facility for State Dept Security
officers when they can be trained at existing facilities of other agencies.
* $110 million to the Farm Service Agency to upgrade computer systems
* $200 million in funding for the lease of alternative energy
vehicles for use on military installations.
* $275 million for "watershed and flood prevention operations"
* Eliminates fees on loans from the Small Business Administration,
thus pushing private capital toward unproductive businesses and away
from productive businesses.
* Increases the definition of "youth" for certain summer job
programs from age 21 to age 24.
* $160 million to the Job Corps program at the Dept. of Labor, but
not for job programs – rather, to construct, alter or repair buildings.
* Requires a government study on the impact of minimum wage laws
on the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa .
* A $246 million tax break for Hollywood movie producers to buy
motion picture film.
* $79 billion State Fiscal Stabilization (slush) Fund to bailout
the States by providing billions of dollars for "education" costs of any kind.
* $47.843 billion is appropriated for a variety of energy programs
that are primarily focused on renewable energy development and energy
conservation/efficiency. Not one dollar is appropriated to make fossil
fuels more affordable in the near future. More than $6 billion of these
funds go to environmental clean ups.
* Increases eligibility for "weatherization" assistance to households 200
percent above the poverty level.
* The "Making Work Pay" credit of $500 to every individual making
less than $75,000 (or $1000 to couples making $150,000 or less) would
pay people whether they are productive or not – akin to welfare.
* The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP- food
stamps) would temporarily suspend the 3-month limit for non-working
adults to receive SNAP benefits, thus giving incentives not to find a job.
* Installs government as the creator of broadband deployment

I see very little stimulus, just an effort to further deficit spend. For this amount of money I’d rather cut a check to each American for $2,500 or so and let them decide where the money can go. The money is either going to go in the bank (helping sovlvency) the stock market (increasing demand, thus increasing price) or be spent, most likely helping out the rest of the economy.

Are credit repair companies legit and do they really help?
I am trying to raise my credit score quickly. Right now I am at 593-around 650 depending on agency. So, by paying off the 5 credit cards that I currently have(some with amounts ranging from 1,500-2,500), should that raise my credit score a great deal? If not, will a credit repair company help or are they just a scam?
ok, to raise your credit score, will not happen overnight, but here are somethings to do

How do I get a loan to fix my credit?
I am getting married in a little over a year. My Guy’s crdit is sparkling I don’t want to pull him down. I have tried a few debt cosolidation places but all of my bad credit is from 2-5 years ago. They want info I can’t obtain. I just tried with 1 major company and they told me I didnt get the right info and refunded me my start up costs. Saving is not working but now if I have a bill, I pay it. But I can’t save this much in this amount of time. If the purpose of my loan is to fix my credit why does everybody want to give me a loan based on that??? Please help.
Try a credit restoration. This is a contriversal way of getting your credit cleaned up but it DOES work and you can have your credit cleared up in less than a year. If you want to do this, however, please use the following guidelines. There are ONLY THREE legitimat credit restoration companies in the United States and of those three I would only recommend one. They meet most of my criteria and have a sparkling record with the BBB. But this is not a forum to SPAM like so many people do. So I will not give out the company’s name. But I will put my article here for you to review. If you want to know the names of the three companies who are legitimate, you must email me.
From my blog:
The TRUTH about Credit Repair: Aren’t They All Scams or Illegal?
This topic is a really hot one right now. People are falling victim to so many scam artists out there who are taking people’s money and offering false hope. There ARE legitimate credit restoration companies out there. But that is the key right there; restoration versus repair. Generally speaking, credit repair is a scam and credit restoration is legit. Does this mean all credit repair offers are scams and all credit restoration offers are legit? NO! It is up to you to do the research. If you can’t do the bare minimum to protect yourself, then don’t come crying to me if you are taken for all of your money. But, to help you determine the scams from the legits, here are 10 tips on how to tell the difference:
1: If they advertise that they will repair your credit in anything less than 18 months, you are not dealing with a legal company. The LAW requires that any credit restoration agency cannot advertise or represent that they can restore or repair your credit in less than 18 months. (Remember this number, it is going to come up again later.)
2: Check on how long the company has been in business. If they have been around for more than 10 years, you are probably dealing with a reputable company. (Honestly, there are really only three that are recognised as legitimate in the United States.) In a future article I will discuss them in more detail.
3: Do your due dilligence. Check with the BBB. The BBB will provide an unbiased report of how many complaints have been filed against the company in the previous three years. There are two things that you want to consider here. First, if there are more than a dozen complaints over the previous three year period, then this company has serious issues and you should be concerned. Also, if the BBB has no file at all on the business, just walk away from the business. Anyone who is hiding from the BBB should be looked upon with suspicion.
4: Ask for pricing when talking to one of their reps. If they hem and haw about what they charge, or say that it depends on how much they have to remove from your report, they are hiding something from you. A good rule of thumb, if the rep is unwilling to answer any question of yours up front and with honesty, you are not dealing with a legitimate company. This does not mean that if the rep states that they will answer the question in a moment, that they are hiding something. It just means that they are getting there and just need to lay a little groundwork first. Remember, reps are all salespersons. They are there to sell you their service. This is good, believe it or not. This encourages competition in the business and keeps costs down. (Which reminds me: DON’T PAY MORE THAN $1000 PER PERSON FOR THE SERVICE.)
5: Ask if the company is licensed, bonded and insurred. Ask for proof. If they will not show you their business license (which can only be obtained AFTER they have purchased their bond and insurance) this should raise alarm bells.
6: Ask for examples of successes the company has had. A legitimate company will have copies of investigation results (with personal information blacked out of course) that will show you how successful they can be.
7: How long are they going to work for you? Yes, that’s right, remember that these companies work FOR you. If they are just going to maintain a business relationship with you for the length of time it takes to repair your credit, beware. What often happens in these cases is that after the company has cleared negative information from your credit report they sever their relationship with you and a couple of months later the information returns to your credit report. Now what are you going to do? Your options are to leave the negative information and suffer for 7-10 years or hire someone, again, to remove the information, again. A reputable company will stay with you for the FULL 18 months (I told you this number would come up again). This allows them to continuously monitor your credit reports and remove any negative that may re-insert itself after the initial sanitizing.
8: What other services do they offer? If they are a legitimate company, they will have rescources that will help you to re-establish yourself in the financial world. Things like the ability to help obtain a debit card even if you can’t open a checking or savings account. (Yes, believe it or not, it can be done!) Can you call their credit advisors any time for advice? Is legal representation available if you have to go to court against the credit reporting agencies? ASK! If the company is letgitimate, they will have a team of lawyers that will handle these kinds of legal matters for the duration of your contract.
9: Does their contract advise you of your rights? If not, why? Because they don’t know the laws! And if they don’t know the laws that are designed to protect you, how can you expect them to know the complexities of the Fair Credit Reporting Act which has 340 different laws?
10: Is there a money back guarantee? In this business refunds are usually prorated. In other words, if you have 50 negative things on your reports and they can only have 30 removed, you are refunded 40% of your money since they were able to get 60% of the information removed. If there is no money back offer, run away! A company that has faith in their services will offer to refund the money if they can’t do the work.
I hope this information helps people out there who are confused about credit restoration programs.

How can i open my own credit repair company?
I am a mortgage loan officer and always send customers who have credit issues to a credit company to clean off their credit. I know people can do this on their own, but many do not have the knowledge and time to do it. I have also cleaned customers credit myself including mine and my wife`s and friends and family members but i have been doing it for free. How do i go about it in opening my own credit repair company? Where do i start?
I wish I could provide an answer to this, a REAL answer. I was in mortgage too for a number of years and got to watch SEVERAL opportunities like the ones you are describing pass me by. Although I would probably open up shop for myself if I had this answer

Does anyone else feel like they don’t bring much to their marriage?
My fiance is a better cook than I am (I assist in the kitchen, though). He is handy around the house with home repairs, etc. He cleans his apartment and cleans mine too (I help!). He’s teaching me how to drive (I never needed a license before because I lived in New York City). He knows more about finances and investing and taxes (I pay off my credit cards right away too, though!).
When I sit down and think about it, I don’t know what on earth I bring to my marriage. It’s not that I’m lazy — I am a professional and I’ll be finishing my master’s degree this summer — but when it comes to household and general life management, I kinda rely on him to take the lead.
When I bring this up with him, he just says "You bring your sparkling personality." That’s very sweet, but I’m afraid once we move in together he’s going to end up feeling burdened by constantly having to manage my life for me.
Anyone else feel this way? Suggestions?
The most important thing is you both love eachother. Maybe he feels good doing this for you. It makes him feel needed and he likes that. (just opinions) I’m sure theres lots you’ll bring to your marriage. Love, Affection, Hope, Fidelity, "Your sparkling personality". Don’t be so hard on yourself. Think of yourself as lucky. You’ve got a man thats wants to take care of his future wife. Congratulations on your engagement and best wishes on your future wedding!!!
